Sealing helps guard against all of these issues, extending the life of the stone and keeping it looking clean and consistent.
When should I seal my limestone?
If your limestone has recently been installed or professionally cleaned, it’s the perfect time to seal it. We recommend sealing as soon as the surface is completely clean and dry. For existing limestone, sealing should be done every 2–3 years, depending on exposure to sun, weather, traffic and moisture.
What finish will the sealer leave on my limestone?
You can choose from:
- Natural finish: preserves the original appearance with a near-invisible coating
- Satin finish: provides a subtle sheen that enhances natural colour
- Gloss or wet look: darkens and deepens the stone’s colour for a more dramatic finish

Does sealing limestone make it slippery?
Not when done correctly. We use sealers with non-slip properties or can add a grip-enhancing agent for areas around pools, paths, or steps. This helps maintain safety while still protecting the surface.

Sealing should always be done on a clean, dry surface. If dirt, mould, or previous stains are sealed in, they will be trapped underneath and may still be visible. That’s why we offer a full clean-and-seal service, ensuring the limestone is properly prepared beforehand.
What maintenance is required after sealing limestone?
